Embarking on a Novel Voyage: Coding Crusader Enters Development Realm

information Mar 20, 2023

Thrilled, I am, to unveil my recent embarkment into the realm of software development at our abode, poised to bolster and elevate our MyCloudSpace (MCS) platform. In this epistle, allow me to regale you with snippets about my humble self and elucidate why this newfound role, I believe, is tailor-made for me.

MyCloudSpace, our avant-garde cloud dominion portal, furnishes backup and disaster recovery, cloud storage, cloud servers, cloud networking, cloud security, and cloud monitoring features, enabling customers to adeptly manage their vBridge services. With my rich tapestry of experience in infrastructure architecture and management, I am positively champing at the bit to apply my expertise in this thrilling new capacity.

A nascent flame ignited my ardor for software development in my salad days. A mere lad of 14, I crafted a classroom allocation system in Apple Basic, selling it to a community college. Soon, I discovered how swiftly my code transmogrified into a tangled, unmanageable spaghetti, becoming nigh impossible to support when the customer sought alterations. A jocund lesson I learned, indeed, on the indispensability of crafting maintainable code.

In the wake of completing my Electrical Engineering education, the prospect of a development position at the renowned Microsoft in the USA loomed tantalizingly before me. Alas, fate intervened, as I had but recently encountered my resplendent wife-to-be, and the notion of abandoning her was simply unconscionable. In retrospect, 'twas the correct path, and we still share mirthful reminiscences of how amour reigned supreme over vocational prospects.

Instead, I ventured into full-time development devising a desktop management and deployment contraption. Our motley crew burgeoned from a duo – myself and our product maestro Geoff – to an intrepid septet, with my career trajectory veering toward infrastructure architecture. Nevertheless, my predilection for coding never waned, as I reveled in Microsoft Scripting games, Advent of Code, concocting a Sudoku solver in VBscript, and penning prior blogs on the annual coding festivities. Recently, I've been engrossed in crafting Microsoft PowerApps for our local sanctum, addressing an array of objectives, from sober (our Information Security Management System) to whimsical (chronicling workplace Marnus' – those endearing, occasionally grandiose, acts of folly we inevitably perpetrate) and assorted workplace machinations.

The opportunity to immerse myself once more in development and glean wisdom from our illustrious, seasoned team is a veritable dream actualized. I eagerly anticipate delving into the MCS platform's roadmap, encompassing enhancements to backup prowess, usability augmentations, infrastructure as code support, public cloud amalgamations, and a plethora of additional marvels.

Exhilarated, I stand on the precipice of this novel expedition, sanguine about the constructive reverberations I shall instigate within our team and our creations.

As I acclimate to this fresh vocation, I cordially invite you to proffer any counsel or inquiries you might harbor regarding MCS. I eagerly anticipate our collaboration in honing our platform to unparalleled heights. To our collective triumph!
